Welcome to
GRADE EXPECTATIONS
LEARNING CENTRES
Tutoring and Supplementary Education
Nepean, Manotick, and Orleans

From the Executive Director.

Promote Academic Success by Being Proactive

To the many returning parents that are with us again this year, thank you for enrolling your children and older students at GRADE EXPECTATIONS for the winter-spring semester.  We greatly appreciate your support of our tutorial and supplementary education programs, and we continue to make every effort to provide excellent and experienced instruction in a safe and positive environment using an exceptionally low student-to-teacher ratio.

As this new semester continues through the early winter and spring, our focus at GRADE EXPECTATIONS continues to be to help your son or daughter increase their understanding, improve the related skills, and build confidence – all in support of their specific studies in school.  For high school students, please carefully consider the importance of enrolling in the earlier stages of the new semester before your student struggles with a number of tests, loses confidence, and has to overcome both significant skill gaps and course mark deficits.  Of course, we will do our  best to help your high school student in the latter stages of the first semester and short-term preparation for exams; however, the  success is typically achieved with consistent attendance over the  full course of a semester.

Twice weekly one-hour tutorial sessions are recommended, as attending only once per week mainly serves to maintain confidence, assist your student to solidify skills taught at school, and improve to some measure the knowledge through answering periodic questions that may arise. Two hours a week of tutoring more adequately provides support for the fast-paced curriculum, gives our teachers the time to go back and provide remedial assistance and resolve foundational skill gaps, and, finally, maintains a much higher degree of continuity for your child’s academic learning.

If your child is maintaining excellent grades, he or she can focus on enrichment elements that will be important in the coming school year – a proactive approach that can help them achieve significant gains and solidify skills for future use.  They may use this enrichment support to achieve better grades within their existing academic pathway, or they may change that pathway and possibly undertake a more challenging program of education within their school.

Please call us to book convenient times with the centre nearest you. Early bookings can more readily accommodate your family’s busy late afternoon or early evening schedules.  The earlier the booking of your child's tutorial schedule, the more able we are to provide a great teacher at just the optimum time for you and our child.
